Ernst Homburg (1952) was professor of History of Science and Technology at Maastricht University from 2002 to 2018. He studied chemistry in Amsterdam and received his PhD in history from the university in Nijmegen. Between 1989 and 2004 he was co-editor of two book series on the History of Technology in the Netherlands (1800-1970). He was president of GeWiNa (1995-1998), and chairman of the European Working Party on the History of Chemistry (2003-2009).
His most recent books are Een kabinet vol kleur (2018) and Hazardous Chemicals (2018). He received the HIST-Award of the American Chemical Society in 2014.
